OI has developed a new program aimed at training adults to educate pre-teens on how to safely navigate the Internet. Comprehensive materials are available from OI at no cost to clubs interested in participating. A complete packet is available from OI: 1-800-500-8130, ext. 23, Daniele Baugher, or email programs@optimist.org. Chairing the District effort is Ed Melko, huncut@att.net, who can be available to train interested trainers. Check out the OI site (www.optimist.org) under Programs for more information.

BRAIN BOWL READERS
Optimists interested in being a reader for the Brain Bowl events must complete special training prior to those events, the first of which is January 23. Training is easy but is mandatory. Emails will go out to those who have participated in the past, according to chair Rich Urbanowski, or check the dedicated Brain Bowl website at www.optimistbrainbowl.org for more details and for times and locations of the event.

COLORADO-WYOMING DISTRICT -- OPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL
NOTICE OF  CALL -- FIRST QUARTERLY MEETING
The FIRST QUARTERLY BOARD MEETING AND TRAINING SESSION is to be held at A Spice of Life in Boulder October 17, 2009. In keeping with suggestions from many members, we have scheduled this meeting to be one day only in a unique and exciting venue.
It is imperative in keeping with our redoubled effort at growth and achievement that incoming club presidents and secretary-treasurers attend the special training sessions earmarked for them. In these sessions, you new officers will get a handle on the scope and function of your respective responsibilities and for those of you who have served in those positions before, it is a chance to refresh your thoughts and rekindle your enthusiasm.
For all members, this will be a time to make new friends and cement relationships and meet district officers, OI Foundation representatives and the International Convention Representative.
This is going to be a hallmark year for the Colorado Wyoming District. Not only are our challenges clearly defined this year, but our district will be hosting the International Convention in July,
and it is important that we take every opportunity to push toward a successful meeting.
As new District Governor I will be addressing the assembly and our new District Board will be installed by an OI Representative.
We will hold a model club luncheon and everyone is invited to participate in the OI Foundation raffle.
Under important business, we will be adopting the District Budget, approving audits and approving dates and locations for district conferences. This one-day meeting will be filled with significant functions. I urge all members to attend, but I especially want to see new club members and new officers of clubs so we can get down to the business of meeting the challenges of the year ahead. Promise yourself to soar for the kids in our district.
