EARLY RISERS. Optimists from throughout the district showed up Memorial Day Weekend to tend to the annual Windsor Gardens Pancake Breakfast extravaganza. A familiar face, standing, is Mel Crites. (To see more pictures, select bonus pages at left)

ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST

The matter
of the batter

The annual Pancake extravaganza at Windsor Gardens attracted about 1400 hungry and enthusiastic diners over the Memorial Day weekend. Clubs from throughout the Metro area combined to cook, serve and clean up, according to event personnel coordinator Richard Love.

Others involved in the project that raises considerable funds to promote the projects of Optimist Clubs included Dave Sims, Clint Etter, Pamela Chambers, Laurence Berens, Roberta Collard, Marie Robinson, Myrtle Duvall and a dedicated cadre of others.

Love issued a special thanks to Mel Bell who annually revives and services the grills, and to Clint Etter who is in charge of securing the door prizes given during the event. Clubs involved were Windsor Gardens Breakfast and Luncheon, Centennial, Heather Gardens Luncheon and Lowry of Denver.

LIGHTER SIDE OF OPTIMISM. Those attending the informal gathering dinner at the White Fence Farm the Friday before opening of the Third Quarter meeting caught a glimpse of OI President Yves Berthiaume in a lighter moment. Here, he and District Gov. Jim Brown mug it up for the camera. The baseball cap and attached ponytail were a standby for the visit by the joy-spreading Top Optimist.
