The International President’s Dinner will take place May 8 at the Double Tree Hotel, 3230 Quebec St., Denver. Cost of the banquet in honor of OI President Mark Schriver is $31. The affair will begin with a cash bar 6-6:30 p.m. with dinner served beginning at 6:30.

Menu is to be tequila grilled chicken, mixed salad, au gratin potatoes, rolls and beverage. Vegetarian and special request menu are available. RSVP by April 23, 2010.

Growing a Convention. Charlie Neumann, Assistant Chair of the Colorado-Wyoming District Convention Committee, poses beside a young Tree of Optimist awaiting the budding of its leaves. Each leaf to come will represent an amount given by either individuals or clubs toward hosting the International Convention in July. The tree was especially bred by Optimist arborist Tom Overton. Goal is $15,000. Stay tuned for development.

Pledges to the Convention Fund have topped $8000 according to Charlie Neumann, assistant chair and treasurer Jim Heinze, while deposits to the special account have topped $5000. Donations have come in from as far away as San Diego.
