April 2, 2016Nicole Powell Photography & The Academy Optimist Club present their 5th Annual “Critters for Cancer” Fundraiser!
When: April 2, 2016
Time: 10am to 3pm (no appt necessary)
Where: Nicole Powell Photography Studio, 7 E. Bijou Street suite 203, Colorado Springs, CO 80903We're raising money for the local familes of the Children's Hospital for Cancer & Blood Disorder Clinic to help cover everyday costs such as gas and groceries. You’re invited to bring your favorite furry, or maybe not so furry, friends by for a Professional Pet Portrait taken at the Nicole Powell Photography Studio.
The Pet Portrait fee is only $25 and you get a FREE 8x10 as a thank you for your help. And 90% of the proceeds will be donated to the local families. Plus, 90% of any additional print purchases will also be donated as well.
Over the past 4 years we have raised over $4000. Help us use cuteness to cure cancer and support many more families this year!

April 30, 2016 – May 1, 2016Location: All Saints Lutheran Church, 15625 E. Iliff Ave., Aurora, CO 80013
The winner at the District level will receive $2500 Scholarship and a chance to move on to the OI Regional Contest and the World Championship Contest held in St. Louis. The Winner and a parent/guardian will be sent by the CO/WY District to St. Louis.

April 30, 2016The District Oratorical Contest will be held on Sat., April 30th, 2016 at All Saints Lutheran Church at 15625 E. Iliff Ave., Aurora, CO 80013 (off I-225 and Iliff about 5 min. from I-225) from 1:00 – 3:30 PM.
The District winner will compete at the Optimist Regional Contest at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri via live streaming on June 23, 2016 for an additional $5,000 scholarship. (9 regions) The District will provide transportation and lodging for the District Winner and one parent/guardian to go to Saint Louis.
Each Regional Winner will compete in the World Championship Contest for a chance to win a first, second, and third place scholarship of $15,000, $10,000, or $5,000 respectively. This World Championship Contest will be held on June 24, 2016 at Saint Louis University via online streaming.
Contestants may use the Scholarships at any university in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. The winner of the World Championship will receive a $22,500 in scholarships, altogether! The World Championship 2nd Place winner will receive $17,500 and 3rd Place winner will receive $12,500 in scholarships! What a wonderful opportunity for our youth in the OI competition!
